(Ecuador, 1988) Sensitive cartoonist, “sampler” of artistic encounters, mangrove mermaid who paints salsa-dancing monsters, zine-maker and researcher.Since 2007, she has illustrated, made zines and stickers for her own brand called El Hongo Atómico. She founded and directed La Licuadora (2011), a magazine of art, literature, and music for children and teenagers. In 2013, she began a Master’s in Publishing in Mexico. During this program, she carried out extensive research on the history of Ecuadorian political cartooning, which has been a constant source of inspiration in her work.She was a member and co-founder of La Gallina Malcriada (2018), an art research collective aimed at giving greater visibility to female artists in Guayaquil and promoting their work through various projects, such as open workshops.She currently lives in Laredo, Spain, where she moved after completing her second Master’s degree, during which she conducted research on how colonization has shaped her identity and artistic production.In recent years, she has worked as an illustrator for projects such as Píkara Magazine and Zirriborroak eta gero.She is the creator, sampler, and organizer of events like Volcánica, an online talk series on decoloniality, art, and feminism featuring Ecuadorian voices; and Vómitos en Saturno, monthly artist meetups held at Naubis bookstore.At the moment, she is working on her first comic and is interested in themes such as witchcraft, syncretism, and speculative fiction. She finds joy in visiting the vegetable garden, cooking patacones, and walking along the beach in Laredo.
