Pratico parkour desde 2011 e, ao longo destes anos de treino, conheci muitas pessoas que partilham a minha paixão e valores.Com um grupo delas, decidimos combinar desporto com viagem, fazendo uma road trip, sem rumo e sem planeamento, explorando e praticando parkour. Costumamos chamar a esta viagem “The Tour”. Já fizemos várias destas viagens e, com o tempo, fomos percebendo aspetos mais introspectivos e interessantes.A ideia básica era treinar e conhecer lugares diferentes, mas a forma como o fizemos — acampando onde acontecia, dormindo ao relento ou cozinhando na rua — tornou as viagens muito mais cansativas e stressantes do que esperávamos.O que me chamou a atenção é que, apesar das dificuldades, existe um desejo de repetir isto todos os anos, já há oito anos.Por isso decidi documentar e contar esta experiência, tentando captar o cansaço, o desconforto, mas também as partes mais bonitas e agradáveis que levam um grupo de jovens a abandonar a rotina e o quotidiano, ainda que por um tempo limitado, dedicando-se a uma experiência única.
I have been doing parkour since 2011, during these years of training I met a lot of people that share my passion and values. With a group of them we decided to combine sport with travel by taking a road trip, aimlessly and without planning, exploring and doing parkour. We use to name this trip “The Tour”. Many of these trips have been made, and over time we have noticed some more introspective and interesting aspects.The basic idea was to train and see different places, but the way we did it — camping where it happened, sleeping outdoor or cooking in the street — made the trips much more tiring and stressful than we expected.The interesting thing that struck me is that, despite the difficulties, there is a desire to do this every year, since eight years now.That's why I decided to document it and tell it, trying to capture the fatigue, the discomfort but also the most beautiful and pleasant parts that push a group of young people to abandon the routine and everyday life, albeit for a limited time, dedicating themselves to a unique experience.
The author was born in 1991, and starts his journey in photography in 2013 with a Canon 1100D, but his interest in film photography was born in 2016 thanks to a Canon AE1, the old father’s camera. The analogic process for the artist is not just a creative pattern, it is also a way to handle the images from the shot to the print, developing them at home in the darkroom.
