Carolina De Matthaeis, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, living in Slovenia since 2021. Her work transforms observations and thoughts into tactile, layered visible narratives trough fanzines, printmaking, photography, painting, and tattooing. Inspired by the playful spirit of skating and the urge to reclaim public spaces and community, reflects the constant push between concrete structures of modern society, and the natural world. A desire to reimagine the spaces we inhabit and the ways we connect, the longing to reshape our relation with environment and ways of being within it in moments of virtuality, privatization of the public space and conquering of the nature with concrete. Her work is an open invitation to not give up on new perspectives and to leap from the contemplative to the actionable, bridging the gap between image and physical reality.
